Welcome! My name is Mae Rosss and I am an Eating Disorder Dietitian in Maryland and Virginia who is passionate about helping clients make peace with food and honor the needs of their body. I see clients in person in Alexandria, VA and Columbia, MD and virtually in Maryland, and Virginia.

My journey in this field began in 2019, when I was an undergraduate student at the University of Maryland and came across an opportunity to work with Alex Raymond (the practice owner!) as an intern. Little did I know she would connect me with the corner of the nutrition field I clicked with. Growing up as a swimmer and dancer, I was all too familiar with the ways diet culture influences weight stigma in sports. I initially became interested in nutrition for sports performance, but I felt like I wanted something deeper. Alex introduced me to the HAES framework, and I haven’t looked back since.

Throughout my career, I’ve taken every opportunity to educate healthcare providers on the harms of diet culture and weight stigma, and to introduce them to alternative, weight-inclusive frameworks. Improving access to this kind of care for all people is something I’m truly passionate about.

After completing my dietetic internship with Virginia Tech, which allowed me to keep following my passion for eating disorder care, I began working in the outpatient setting and fell in love with the work especially the part of building deep, enriching relationships with my clients.

Most recently, I spent several years as an eating disorder dietitian at the VA, where I worked collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team to treat Veterans in recovery. I’m proud of the work I did there to expand access to eating disorder care for Veterans in the region, grow our program offerings, and improve the quality of care Veterans receive. This included developing the eating disorder nutrition programming for my team, enrolling Veterans in national research efforts to help develop an eating disorder treatment manual designed for Veterans, and presenting to the medical center on topics related to weight stigma.

My approach is client-focused and collaborative, I believe the best progress happens when we build a strong rapport and work together toward goals that feel meaningful to you. I’m honored to walk alongside my clients each step of the way as they build a more peaceful relationship with food and their body.

In my free time, you can find me walking my dogs, Mia (a Pomeranian) and Richard (a miniature schnauzer), listening to rock and roll on full blast in my apartment, or making crunchy tacos with my fiancé.
