Common Questions about Insurance and Finances

Courage to Nourish

This page will specifically answer common questions about insurance and fees. If you have questions about if we’re a good fit for you or about our services in general, contact us today! We also encourage you to visit our Meet the Team page to learn more about the Courage to Nourish dietitians.

Can I use my FSA or HSA for payment?

Yes! You can absolutely use your Flexible Spending Account or Health Saving Account for payment. We also accept credit card, cash, PayPal, check and Venmo.

Do you take insurance?

Because we value confidentiality and building long term relationships with our clients, we are out-of-network with insurance companies. This allows us to provide nutrition counseling based on your individual needs and goals – not dictated by the insurance company.

Can I still get coverage for my sessions with Courage to Nourish?

Yes! We provide all our clients with superbills (detailed receipts) to submit to insurance for reimbursement. In many cases, out of network benefits provide partial or full coverage for the cost of our sessions.
(Please see below for our step-by-step guide to asking your insurance company about benefits).

Why are you out-of-network with insurance?

We founded Courage to Nourish to be unique and provide the best nutrition care for clients in eating disorder recovery. As we mentioned, we value confidentiality and building long term, trusting relationships with our clients. We don’t want insurance companies dictating the care you receive around length of care or goals or for you to be limited to in-network providers who may not have the specialized training to treat eating disorders.

Being out-of-network with insurance allows us to take on a small caseload so we can devote what we know is the necessary time needed for individualized care each client deserves. All of our dietitians have years of specialized training to support complex and nuanced eating disorder cases. Our dietitians constantly participate in continuing education courses for certification, including staying up-to-date on the latest evidence and research based eating disorder treatment.

We provide each client with consistent and comprehensive care.
