Hi I’m Julia! I am a weight inclusive, anti-diet dietitian and I see clients virtually in
Maryland, DC and Virginia and in person at the Columbia location.

I became a dietitian in 2018 after completing my dietetic internship through Montana State University. When I first became a dietitian, I worked at an outpatient clinic providing individual nutrition counseling for the general population. In this role, I saw the influence that diet culture and weight bias have on the healthcare system and how this negatively impacts people’s relationship with food and their bodies.

During this time, I began learning about the Intuitive Eating and the Health at Every Size approach and started to apply these philosophies to my counseling. I loved being able to offer clients a more inclusive approach to nutrition to help them break away from diet culture, reconnect with their internal body wisdom, and build a healthier and more sustainable relationship with food.

I began working as an eating disorder dietitian in 2019 at a residential level of care. During this time, I gained experience working with adults and adolescents of all genders and eating disorder diagnoses as well as with co-occurring diagnoses such as anxiety, ADHD, OCD, BPD, and Autism.

I joined Courage to Nourish so I could continue helping clients repair their relationship with food while working with them in a more long-term capacity. I take a collaborative approach when working with clients and their support system to meet them wherever they are on your healing journey. I love helping patients identify and work towards their individual nutrition goals and celebrate every win (big or small) along the way!

When I am not working, I enjoy spending my free time outside either walking or riding my bike around Baltimore where I live, cooking or trying out different restaurants in the area, hanging out at my community ceramics studio improving on my pottery throwing skills, or reading a book curled up on the couch with my 13-year-old cat, Moira (who will often pop her head, or tail, into our zoom meetings!)

Courage to Nourish strives to connect each client with the certified eating disorder dietitian that best meets their needs.

You and I would be a great fit if:

  • You are interested in learning more about HAES and Intuitive Eating
  • You need help navigating eating disorder recovery along with an ASD or ADHD
    diagnosis
  • You are working to break free from diet culture or the binge-restrict cycle
  • You have just completed treatment at a higher level of care and are looking for ongoing
support as you step back into everyday routines

My typical client includes:

  • Clients of all genders age 16+ (and their families)
  • College students and young adults
  • Teens and adults with ARFID, BED, and OSFED
  • Teens and adults with eating disorders and ASD or ADHD
  • I would love to talk with you and learn more about how Courage to Nourish can support your nutrition needs.
