Virtual eating disorder dietitian in College Park and Columbia, Maryland
Hi and welcome! I am Lauren Hirschhorn, a Registered Dietitian. Here to help people feel safe with the experiences of eating and moving while still enjoying themselves.
Both my fiancé and I are dietitians, and we love to travel! We have made the decision to settle down in Baltimore for a while. One of our goals is to visit all 61 National Parks. We have already driven across the country twice to see a bunch of them! We consider ourselves pros at road tripping by now. If I’m not in the car listening to a podcast or some tunes, you can find me curled up on the couch with a good book or crafting something I found on Pinterest.
A lot of my experiences with my fiancé, friends, and family were difficult to enjoy when I was struggling with a disordered eating mentality. Through my own battle with disordered eating, I developed a desire to help others achieve peace. I was fortunate enough to find Intuitive Eating (IE) and Health at Every Size (HAES) from a fellow classmate of mine, who was an RD at the time. She changed my life for the better, simply by sitting with me in her living room and talking to me as a person while listening to my story.
I currently use the principles of IE and HAES when working with patients at my clinical job in long-term care and short-term rehabilitation. To some, it seems like an uncommon place to use that form of counseling however, I believe that everyone deserves to be fully seen when reaching out for health care; and issues surrounding eating and body image do not discriminate based on age. I consider my style of counseling to be uplifting, educational, fun, and ever developing based on client needs. There is no “one size fits all” for counseling and I am willing to work with each client in developing a lifestyle that best suits their needs.
I’d love to work with you!
